Benin grants investment incentives to four major industrial firms
Following a cabinet meeting led by President Patrice Talon, the Beninese government has greenlit four significant industrial projects to operate under the nation’s Investment Code. These ventures, spanning water production, chemicals, and the agri-food sector, are set to reshape the country’s economic landscape.
Benin is positioning itself as a regional industrial powerhouse. By integrating these four companies into preferential investment regimes, the executive branch is utilizing tax exemptions, customs relief, and administrative support to draw in capital and stimulate local employment.
Strategic industrial expansion across four key sectors
The selection of these projects reflects a strategy of geographic distribution and sectoral variety:
- EAU TECHNOLOGIE ENVIRONNEMENT SA: This company has been granted a specific investment status to increase mineral water production in the Gakpé industrial zone, addressing the rising domestic demand.
- SOCIÉTÉ BÉNINO-TUNISIENNE DE COMMERCE SARL: Bolstering the construction industry, this firm will establish a paint manufacturing unit in Sèmè-Podji, a vital commercial crossroads.
- BNS AGRI INDUSTRIE SARL: Focusing on Benin’s thriving soybean sector, this company will operate in Azonsa to process seeds into crude oil and meal, strengthening the local agricultural value chain.
- LIBS BENIN SARL: Located in Allada, this industrial complex will produce both mineral water and canned beer, targeting a rapidly growing market segment.
Driving social change through local production
Beyond the economic figures, the Beninese authorities are focused on the social benefits of these investments. These initiatives are expected to serve as primary drivers for job creation, providing both direct and indirect opportunities for the nation’s youth.
By facilitating these new installations, the government reaffirms its commitment to a structural economic shift. The goal is to move away from a reliance on imported goods in favor of a competitive “Made in Benin” production model.
