Stade Brestois 29 has announced a special tribute to Éric Roy, who passed away on June 17, during their upcoming Ligue 1 fixture against Paris Saint-Germain. The club expressed its intent to honor his lasting legacy, stating: « The club wishes this tribute to reflect the profound mark Éric Roy left on its history, as well as the deep respect held by his family, loved ones, club members, and the entire Brest community. »
The club initially considered paying homage during earlier matches at Francis-Le Blé stadium, but scheduling constraints prevented the desired public gathering. Additionally, the Quimper stand will remain closed for the Toulouse FC game due to sanctions for « widespread use of pyrotechnics. » Brest has therefore opted to postpone the tribute until the PSG game to ensure it can be celebrated in the most fitting manner.
