Burkina Faso and Italy strengthen ties at Italy’s 80th Republic Day
A vibrant evening in Ouagadougou marked the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic, as Burkina Faso and Italy reaffirmed their deep-rooted friendship and cooperative partnership. The commemorative event, held on the evening of June 2, 2026, brought together high-ranking Burkinabè officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and the Italian community living in the country.
Stella Eldine Kabré/Kaboré, Burkina Faso’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, represented the national authorities during the gathering. The occasion was filled with moments of reflection, camaraderie, and celebration of the historical bonds that have long united both nations.

Gabriele Di Muzio, Italy’s Ambassador to Burkina Faso, highlighted the strength of bilateral cooperation during his speech. He emphasized the key role played by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in fostering progress between the two countries.

The Ambassador reiterated Italy’s unwavering commitment to supporting Burkina Faso in critical areas such as stabilization, humanitarian assistance, and socioeconomic development. “Supporting the friendly Burkinabè people is the core of our mission here. We are dedicated to a lasting partnership rooted in shared values and mutual respect,” he stated.
