Burkina Faso severs diplomatic ties with France
For several months, underlying tensions had simmered between France and Burkina Faso. A definitive stance was declared by Ouagadougou on June 26, as the nation formally severed its diplomatic relations with Paris, the former colonial power. This significant decision took immediate effect, and France was consequently granted a one-week deadline to close its chancery. The announcement of this diplomatic rupture was delivered via a communiqué broadcast on Radiodiffusion – Télévision du Burkina (RTB).
