Abidjan is buzzing with anticipation as the 10th edition of the National Cocoa and Chocolate Days (JNCC) kicks off at the Abidjan Exhibition Park. This significant event, running from September 1st to 3rd, 2026, marks the official launch of the 2026-2027 coffee-cocoa campaign. A pivotal moment for the sector will be the announcement of the new farmgate prices, a decision keenly awaited by producers across the nation.

The eagerly anticipated new prices are expected to be unveiled by Vice-President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, acting on behalf of the President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara, underscoring the government’s commitment to the agricultural sector.

Reflecting on the previous campaigns, the main 2025-2026 season, which spanned from October 2025 to February 2026, saw farmgate prices set at a record 2,800 FCFA per kilogram. However, the subsequent intermediate campaign, from March to August 2026, experienced a significant adjustment, with prices reduced to 1,200 FCFA per kilogram. This revision was a direct response to a downturn in international cocoa market prices.

Côte d’Ivoire proudly maintains its position as the world’s leading cocoa producer, contributing approximately 40% to the global supply. This dominant role highlights the nation’s critical importance in the international cocoa trade.

The 2025-2026 campaign saw national production reach an estimated 2.2 million tonnes. This period was notably characterized by considerable volatility in exports and a proactive intervention by the State, which acquired around 123,000 tonnes of residual beans amidst a temporary slowdown in global market commercialization.

Looking ahead to the 2026-2027 campaign, production forecasts suggest potential challenges. Climatic constraints and the aging of cocoa plantations could impact yields. Certain market projections indicate a potential decline in Ivorian production, possibly settling around 1.8 million tonnes.
