Gabonese political movements conclude national tour, advocate for unity

The Parti des 7 Merveilles du Peuple Gabonais (7MP) and the Mouvement Oligui Nguema 100% (MON 100%) recently held a press conference in Cité Damas, presenting the comprehensive findings of their extensive national tour. This significant outreach initiative, conducted across all nine Gabonese provinces from June 4 to June 25, 2026, aimed to engage citizens and political stakeholders. Leaders of both organizations utilized the conference to detail key takeaways from their mission and outline future strategic directions.

Under the leadership of Joël Ngoueneni Ndzengouma, who serves as both the founding president of 7MP and president of MON 100%, the delegation embarked on a journey to connect directly with the populace, party activists, and local officials. The primary objectives were to ascertain citizen concerns and to evaluate the nation’s social and political landscape following the pivotal 2025 presidential election.

Joël Ngoueneni Ndzengouma affirmed that this widespread tour also played a crucial role in bolstering the internal structures of both movements. He stated, « Since June 4, 2026, the 7MP and the MON 100% Movement have combined their efforts, building upon the momentum initiated on February 8, 2025. »

Throughout their provincial stops, discussions frequently revolved around pressing issues articulated by residents. These concerns notably included youth employment, consistent access to potable water, the condition of national roadways, healthcare services, educational opportunities, and the rising cost of living. « We journeyed to meet our fellow citizens, to listen attentively, and to gauge the realities on the ground, » Ngoueneni Ndzengouma explained.

During the event, leaders from both organizations also announced significant internal restructuring. This included the reorganization of their provincial coordinations, a thorough update of their membership rosters, and the successful onboarding of numerous new members. The movement’s president highlighted, « This mission enabled us to pinpoint new local leaders, solidify MON 100%’s presence across all nine provinces, and secure 1,000 new membership applications. »

The press conference drew a notable assembly of political figures, including Angélique Ngoma, Secretary General of the Parti Démocratique Gabonais (PDG), and Gervais Oniane, President of the Union pour la République (UPR).

Addressing the attendees, Gervais Oniane urged political parties to prioritize constructive dialogue and collaborative consultation. He emphasized, « It is imperative for political parties to work collectively, fostering a spirit of unity and responsibility, to effectively support the nation’s significant transformations. »

Concluding the gathering, the leadership of 7MP and MON 100% put forward a proposal for establishing a concerted platform. This platform would unite political parties committed to backing the agenda of President of the Republic, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. They believe such a framework for exchange would greatly enhance coordination among various political factions.
