The Rassemblement pour la Patrie et la Modernité (RPM), a political party belonging to the presidential majority in Gabon, has extended its congratulations to President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. Through a statement issued by its spokesperson, Etienne Francky Meba Ondo, the party commended the head of state for his intensive efforts and dedication to the nation between August 9 and August 30.

In the declaration entitled “From Action to Results,” the political group expressed strong support for the newly introduced healthcare measures, the visible progress on the ground, the president’s active presence across the country, and the focus on provincial development.

Major investments in the health sector

The RPM highlighted the significant funding announcement made on August 30 in Makokou, where 55 billion CFA francs were pledged to the healthcare sector. This financial package allocates 44 billion CFA francs to upgrade national medical equipment, 6 billion CFA francs to reopen cafeterias within hospital facilities, and an additional 5 billion CFA francs to support the Caisse nationale d’assurance maladie et de garantie sociale (CNAMGS). Recognizing these measures as direct answers to the vital needs of the population, the party insisted on a swift and effective deployment of these commitments.

Infrastructure and regional development initiatives

The political statement also pointed to the launch of several health, commercial, administrative, and defense facilities in Grand Libreville. Additionally, 17 structural projects were highlighted in the Ogooué-Ivindo province during the Independence celebrations held in Makokou at the end of August. To promote development outside the capital city, the RPM drew attention to the Mayiga housing project, which already features 50 completed residences, 25 currently under construction, and a final target of 500 fully developed plots.

Shifting from promises to concrete proof

Reflecting on the celebrations marking Gabon’s 66th independence anniversary and the third anniversary of the transition, the RPM adopted a guiding principle shared by the head of state: “The time of promises must give way to the time of proof.” Embracing this standard, the party asserted that the true measure of any government announcement lies in its direct, positive impact on the daily lives of Gabonese citizens.

Furthermore, the party welcomed the official visit of the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, to Libreville, an event that culminated in the signing of three bilateral cooperation agreements.

Political backing and future outlook

The RPM has urged the government to sustain this momentum, specifically regarding the execution of local projects, the long-term maintenance of newly delivered infrastructure, and the expansion of employment opportunities for young people. The party reaffirmed its loyal and responsible commitment to supporting national unity and modernization efforts.

Led by Alexandre Barro Chambrier, who currently serves as the Vice-President of the Republic, the RPM joined the coalition supporting President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema during the presidential election on April 12, 2025. While maintaining its political independence, the party continues to hold three seats in the National Assembly.
