Marquinhos reflects on psg’s ligue 1 defeat and champions league final preparations
In a match devoid of significant stakes, Paris Saint-Germain experienced a 2-1 defeat during the 34th and concluding matchday of Ligue 1, playing away at Paris FC. The focus for PSG now unequivocally shifts towards the highly anticipated Champions League final.
For their final Ligue 1 fixture, PSG succumbed to a 2-1 loss on the pitch of Paris FC. Following this encounter, Marquinhos, the esteemed captain of the Parisian squad, offered his reflections on the defeat and provided an overview of the Ligue 1 season, all while casting an eye towards the looming Champions League final.
“we have two weeks to thoroughly prepare for our ultimate objective”
Marquinhos elaborated on the team’s performance, stating, “We take the entire context into account. Everything that happens here provides lessons, especially from a defeat, things to improve upon. It’s clear we didn’t play the match we should have. We absolutely needed to perform better, particularly in the first half where we simply weren’t at our usual standard. Despite that, we managed to score in the second half. However, we must keep pushing forward,” the PSG captain emphasized. “We now have two weeks to meticulously prepare for this final objective ahead of us. The championship celebration was fitting; given the circumstances, it was the only thing we could do. We celebrated our title, a trophy we worked incredibly hard for throughout the year. It’s a very challenging league to win, especially this season. This is a thrilling end to the season, filled with many more challenges for us. Reaching a Champions League final is one of the pinnacle achievements in any season. For me, playing in a final marks my third during my 13 years here in Paris, which truly highlights the immense difficulty involved. It’s an exciting conclusion to the season. Even with today’s loss, we will identify aspects we can enhance. I’m certain our coach will be pushing us rigorously over these next two weeks to ensure we significantly improve for this crucial Champions League final.“
