On Friday, May 22, a high-level gathering convened in N’Djamena as the national steering committee for the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2024–2026 formally concluded its work. The session was co-chaired by Tahir Hamid Nguilin, Minister of State for Finance, Budget, Economy, Planning and International Cooperation, alongside Dr. François Batalingaya, the UN Resident Coordinator in Chad.

The meeting brought together government officials, UN agency representatives, technical and financial partners, civil society leaders, and private-sector stakeholders. It served as both a review of the 2024–2026 cycle and the formal launch of preparations for the next cooperation framework covering 2027–2030.

During opening remarks, Minister Tahir Hamid Nguilin underscored the depth of Chad’s partnership with the UN system and highlighted the strategic importance of the gathering. He emphasized that through the national development blueprint Tchad Connexion 2030, the government aims to build a more resilient, inclusive, and prosperous Chad. Key priorities include strengthening human capital, strengthening climate adaptation, improving governance, promoting youth employment, and empowering women.

Tahir Hamid Nguilin added, « This steering-committee session demonstrates our shared determination to align UN interventions with Chad’s national priorities. By endorsing the 2026 work plans and laying the groundwork for 2027–2030, we reaffirm our commitment to inclusive growth that leaves no one behind. »

In his closing statement, Dr. François Batalingaya noted that the evaluation of the 2024–2026 cycle validates the strength of joint action. « As we close this chapter, our focus is already on the future. The next UNSDCF 2027–2030 will embody renewed ambition to meet financing needs and the aspirations of the Chadian people, » he said.

Participants exchanged insights on lessons learned from the current cycle and strategic directions for 2027–2030, focusing on development financing, social inclusion, and resilience. The upcoming cooperation framework will be fully aligned with the Tchad Connexion 2030 national development strategy.
