Un security council denounces recent terrorist assaults in Mali
The United Nations Security Council has issued a strong denunciation of the ‘abhorrent terrorist assaults’ perpetrated by jihadist factions linked to Al-Qaeda across Mali since April 25. The international body explicitly demanded that the perpetrators of these acts be held accountable.
In a communiqué released on Friday, the Council underscored the imperative of bringing to justice all individuals involved in these incidents, including those who carried out, organized, directed, and financially supported them.
Mali finds itself grappling with instability following a series of unparalleled attacks targeting key strategic locations held by the ruling junta, which has been in power since 2020. These assaults, occurring on April 25 and 26, struck vital cities and tragically claimed the life of the nation’s Defense Minister.
