In a significant move to bolster military cooperation between Algeria and Niger, the Algerian government has delivered a strategic donation to the Nigerien armed forces. This gesture, executed under the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, underscores Algeria’s commitment to regional security and stability.

Strategic military support enhances regional security

Under the supervision of General d’Armée Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegated to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the Algerian People’s National Army (ANP), four military helicopters and a comprehensive package of military equipment were officially handed over to Nigerien authorities. The donation includes:

• Two MI-24V attack helicopters — renowned for their combat effectiveness and firepower
• Two MI-171 utility helicopters — ideal for transport and logistical support
• A full complement of ammunition, spare parts, and maintenance equipment
• Logistical support materials to ensure operational readiness

The transfer began with the aerial deployment of the helicopters from the secondary deployment base at In Gezzam, located in the 6th Military Region, en route to Niamey International Airport. Simultaneously, a military transport aircraft carried essential supplies including ammunition, spare parts, and maintenance tools to support the new equipment.
