Azerbaijan and Morocco strengthen parliamentary ties in Baku
Strengthening ties between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Morocco
The Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, held a high-level meeting with Mohamed Ghayate, the Vice-President of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco. The discussions took place during Ghayate’s official visit to Baku to participate in the 20th session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States.
During the exchange, both leaders expressed great satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations. They noted that the partnership between Azerbaijan and Morocco is rooted in mutual respect and continues to flourish, particularly within the political sphere. The dialogue highlighted the effective cooperation between the two nations on the international stage, where they consistently offer mutual support and solidarity across various platforms.
A central theme of the meeting was the vital role that legislative bodies play in deepening national connections. Sahiba Gafarova recalled her successful official visit to Morocco and her frequent interactions with Moroccan parliamentary leaders at international forums, stating that these contacts are instrumental in fortifying the bond between the two states. It was further noted that the friendship groups active in both parliaments serve as essential bridges for development. Additionally, the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two legislatures earlier this year has opened new doors for even closer collaboration.
The representatives also praised their joint efforts within international parliamentary organizations, with a specific focus on the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network. The meeting underscored Morocco’s significant representation and commitment to the initiatives of this network, reflecting a shared vision for multilateral cooperation.
