Officials from the Bénin and Morocco have highlighted their satisfaction with the progress of bilateral cooperation during a meeting in Cotonou. The discussions, held ahead of the co-chairing of the 7th session of the mixed Moroccan-Beninese cooperation commission, underscored a shared commitment to deepen and diversify their partnership.

During the talks, Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, and Corinne Amori Brunet, Benin’s Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of Afro-descendant integration, along with Hugues Oscar Lokossou, Benin’s Minister Delegate for Resource Mobilization and Debt Management, reviewed key achievements since King Mohammed VI’s state visit to Cotonou in June 2004. Both sides celebrated the robust progress across multiple sectors, reaffirming the strong bonds of friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.

The discussions also emphasized the deepening relationship between King Mohammed VI and President Romuald Wadagni, with a shared vision to elevate Beninese-Moroccan relations into a model of inter-African cooperation. This partnership is rooted in principles of solidarity, exchange, and shared progress, setting a benchmark for future collaborations on the continent.

Key sectors identified for further development include the economy, trade, industry, investments, tourism, agriculture, justice, security, vocational training, higher education, scientific research, health, digital innovation, and cultural exchanges. Both delegations expressed their determination to foster a robust economic partnership, encouraging the private sectors of both countries to take a leading role in boosting trade and financing development initiatives.
