Chad will serve as the guest of honor during the military and civilian parade marking Cameroon’s 54th National Day, slated for Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in Yaoundé and across the country.

Known locally as the Day of Unity, this annual observance honors Cameroon’s national cohesion and stands as one of the country’s most significant institutional and patriotic events. The 2026 theme, ‘National Unity: The Foundation of Our Defense and Catalyst for Cameroon’s Growth’, underscores the critical role of togetherness in security and progress.

In Yaoundé, the celebration will feature a grand parade uniting defense and security forces, educational institutions, youth groups, and key segments of Cameroonian society. Similar events will unfold nationwide, reinforcing national pride in regional communities.

The Cameroonian Ministry of Youth has unveiled fresh initiatives for this milestone edition. Highlights include a nationwide cultural diversity carnival and a week-long decentralized festival to bring festivities closer to local populations.
