Kjell Scherpen is set to make a move to the English Premier League, as announced by Algemeen Dagblad this morning.

The 26-year-old Belgian goalkeeper will be joining Ipswich Town on a ten million pound deal. He will also have the opportunity to earn an additional three million pounds through bonuses.

Scherpen had an excellent season in Belgium, leading Union Saint-Gilloise to victories in both the Croky Cup and the Golden Glove award for best goalkeeper.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had previously indicated that serious interest was growing in Scherpen’s services. Clubs from Italy, Germany, and England were all reported to be interested in the talented Belgian stopper.

Scherpen began his English adventure with Brighton & Hove Albion in 2021, after joining from Ajax for five million pounds. However, he has yet to make a significant impact on the pitch.

Before signing with Union Saint-Gilloise in 2025, Scherpen had loan spells at KV Ostende, Vitesse, and Sturm Graz.

Ipswich Town have also made another signing, Kayne van Oevelen arriving from FC Volendam. The competition for places will be fierce between Scherpen and Christian Walton, who was first choice last season.
