Lomé to host special blood drive for World Blood Donor Day 2026

Join Lomé’s blood donation drive ahead of World Blood Donor Day

The National Blood Transfusion Centre (CNTS) in Lomé is gearing up for the 22nd World Blood Donor Day, celebrated globally on June 14, 2026. To build momentum, the centre has announced a special blood collection drive on Friday, June 12, 2026, running from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The campaign carries the powerful theme: “A drop of humanity. Give blood. Save lives.” This initiative underscores the life-saving impact of blood donations and calls on residents of the capital and surrounding areas to step forward and contribute.

Two convenient donation sites in Lomé

Donors have two accessible locations to choose from:

  • The CNTS headquarters in Tokoin Doumasséssé, directly across from EPP Doumasséssé 1;
  • The Tokoin Collection and Distribution Post (PCD), located within the Sylvanus Olympio University Hospital (CHU), behind the hemodialysis department.

Why your donation matters

The blood collected during this drive will be critical in replenishing the country’s blood reserves and meeting urgent medical demands across hospitals and clinics. Each donation has the potential to save multiple lives, making every contribution invaluable.

The CNTS appeals to the public’s sense of solidarity, urging Togolese citizens to participate in this humanitarian effort. “We’re all connected through the gift of blood,” says the centre, emphasizing how collective generosity can make a profound difference in the lives of patients in need of transfusions.

The centre expresses deep gratitude in advance to all volunteers who respond to this call for solidarity, recognizing their role in sustaining a lifeline for those facing medical emergencies.
