Maurice Kamto’s urgent call for national resilience

In a powerful statement issued this Monday, June 29, 2026, Maurice Kamto, national president of the Mouvement pour la renaissance du Cameroun (MRC), has passionately urged for a resurgence of resilience and hope amidst ongoing political challenges. This address continues his established tradition, maintained for over a year, of sharing a fundamental reflection each Monday.

Kamto articulated a stark choice for the nation: “We are left with no option but to decide between extinguishing our future and submitting indefinitely, or to rise on the single leg we have left, with the one arm that still moves, the solitary open eye that refuses to close, because it perceives the future where others see only emptiness. I will not lose my conviction in the triumph of reason; I will not lose it. For beyond the turmoil, the primal gregarious impulses, beyond unreason and hatreds, it is the light of consciousness that guides the path of peoples. This is what will save Cameroon. This is what will uplift Africa.”

The leader of the Mouvement pour la renaissance du Cameroun firmly believes that the nation’s revitalization serves as both the catalyst and emblem for the broader renaissance of the African continent.
