Real Madrid and Chelsea agree Cucurella transfer after 2026 World Cup

Back as Real Madrid head coach, José Mourinho is fine-tuning his squad. The club has reached a principle agreement to sign Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella, with the contract expected to be signed after the 2026 World Cup.

A wave of new arrivals expected after the World Cup

The new-look Real Madrid is taking shape. After a trophy-less season, recently re-elected president Florentino Perez is determined to shake things up. Following the appointment of José Mourinho as manager, the club’s board is accelerating transfer activity.

A principle agreement has been reached for the transfer of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid, fulfilling a wish of José Mourinho for a left-back. The Chelsea player is set to leave, with the deal expected to be finalized after the World Cup. The operation is valued at around €50 million.

Beyond Cucurella, Real Madrid has made significant progress on other reinforcements. Bernardo Silva, out of contract at Manchester City, and Ibrahima Konaté, also free from Liverpool, are expected to arrive in the Spanish capital after the World Cup, along with Dutch right-back and Inter Milan player Denzel Dumfries.
