Security assessment mission in the Nayala province of Burkina Faso

Under the guidance of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Faso, Security Minister Mahamadou Sana conducted a field visit to Nayala province this Sunday. The objective was to analyze the current security landscape, provide moral support to active forces, and engage directly with local residents regarding their needs.

Accompanied by the regional governor of Bankui and local administrative leaders, the Minister began his mission in Toma. He held discussions with traditional authorities before meeting with provincial administrative heads and service directors to discuss local governance.

Challenges in health and education

These consultations highlighted several ongoing hurdles, particularly within the healthcare and education sectors. Additionally, the restricted mobility of civil servants in specific areas remains a significant concern that requires attention.

During his inspection, Mahamadou Sana met with members of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), and Dozos. He shared commendations from the President and the government, acknowledging the successful stabilization efforts that have allowed displaced citizens to return to various villages.

The Minister praised the bravery and dedication of the combat units, urging them to remain vigilant and maintain high standards of discipline. He emphasized that strong synergy between the military and civilians is essential for sustaining progress against terrorism.

Community resettlement and stability

In the towns of Kougny and Gassan, local communities voiced their appreciation for the government’s initiatives to restore order and facilitate the resettlement of abandoned areas.

Concluding his tour, Mahamadou Sana expressed optimism regarding the positive security trends in Nayala. He lauded the effective collaboration between the public and the armed forces, reiterating the state’s commitment to ensuring long-term peace and stability across the province and the entire nation.
