Serigne Mboup, Mayor of Kaolack, voiced his unease during an interview on TFM’s Infos Matin program, stressing the need for reconciliation between the two key figures.

Speaking candidly, he admitted the situation caused him personal distress, especially given his decision to step back from politics—except for his active role in Ousmane Sonko’s legislative campaigns. ‘This situation pains me deeply,’ he confessed. ‘I had sworn off politics, but I couldn’t stay silent when my support for Sonko was needed during the elections.’

Serigne Mboup emphasized that a break in relations between Diomaye Faye and Sonko could jeopardize the nation’s progress. ‘No development can thrive amid conflict,’ he warned. ‘When leaders clash, everything stalls—even in Senegal.’
