Touba, 30 July 2026 — As the countdown begins for the highly anticipated Grand Magal of Touba, set to take place on Sunday, 2 August 2026, Ousmane Sonko, President of the National Assembly, paid a respectful visit to the sacred city of Touba. He was warmly received by the esteemed Khalife général des Mourides, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké, in an atmosphere steeped in reverence and spiritual devotion.

During their meeting, Sonko extended his deepest respects to the religious leader, emphasizing his profound admiration. He took the opportunity to highlight the profound spiritual and historical significance of the Grand Magal of Touba—a pivotal event in the Mouride brotherhood that commemorates the exile of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, its founder.
