The United States has made its position crystal clear: Washington recognizes Morocco’s full sovereignty over Western Sahara and endorses Rabat’s autonomy proposal as the only viable path toward a lasting resolution.

In a congratulatory message to King Mohammed VI on Morocco’s Throne Day, the U.S. president reaffirmed America’s unwavering support for the North African ally. The correspondence highlighted the deep and enduring friendship between the two nations, marking 250 years of shared history built on mutual trust and respect.

Addressing the Western Sahara dispute, the message delivered a firm warning: “Any alternative path only prolongs the status quo—which is unacceptable. This conflict must reach a conclusion now.” The U.S. pledged to drive progress toward a definitive settlement, emphasizing Morocco’s pivotal role in fostering regional stability.

The American leader praised “His Majesty’s wise leadership as a cornerstone of stability,” underscoring Morocco’s commitment to combating extremism, safeguarding shared security—including through the Abraham Accords—and bolstering defense ties. A joint focus on the Sahel was also highlighted as part of this strategic collaboration.

Economic partnership took center stage in the correspondence, with the U.S. hailing Morocco’s Vision for growth as a catalyst for shared prosperity. “My administration is actively advancing economic and social development initiatives with Morocco, including within Western Sahara,” the president stated. This includes leveraging American innovation across critical sectors such as energy, artificial intelligence, defense, and the supply of rare minerals.

Looking ahead, the message closed with a vision of renewal: “Together, we will forge a new era—one that prioritizes the interests of our peoples and strengthens our enduring alliance.”
