King Mohamed VI underscores Morocco’s stability, security, and strategic autonomy in national address

In a sweeping national address marking the 27th anniversary of his accession to the throne, King Mohamed VI presented a comprehensive overview of Morocco’s achievements and outlined key priorities for the future. Addressing the nation amid global instability, the monarch highlighted three pillars underpinning Morocco’s progress: unwavering stability and security, which have fostered public confidence; robust economic growth driven by industrialization and technological advancement, achieving 80% self-sufficiency in food, pharmaceuticals, and automotive production; and sustainable energy development, with particular emphasis on green hydrogen initiatives.

The King also emphasized the need to address persistent inequalities, stressing that macroeconomic health must translate into tangible improvements in daily life across all regions of Morocco. He underscored the importance of ongoing development programs and the expansion of social protection systems to enhance living conditions and achieve social and spatial justice.

In a gesture of national solidarity, His Majesty announced the granting of clemency to 1,788 individuals, including both detainees and those already released, as part of the annual royal pardon.

“Praise be to God, prayers and peace be upon the Prophet, his family, and companions.

Dear people,

With immense pride and deep satisfaction, we celebrate today the twenty-seventh anniversary of Our accession to the throne.

For twenty-seven years, the divine will has entrusted Us with the responsibility of guiding your destiny. The mission is noble, and the task is monumental.

In resonance with the Almighty’s words: ‘If you are grateful, I will certainly increase your favors,’ We thank Him for the blessings He bestows upon Us by guiding Us toward success in fulfilling your expectations and addressing your concerns.

Never has personal glory or the pursuit of the title of ‘continental or international leader’ been Our ultimate goal. Rather, Our sole concern has always been to fulfill the responsibility entrusted to Us in serving you, ensuring that all Moroccans may live with dignity as free citizens.

Today, reviewing what We have accomplished together fills Us with honor and pride in the significance of our achievements and instills in Us full optimism about the future.

Far from a source of personal satisfaction, this assessment fosters a gratifying sense of confidence and serenity that empowers Us and motivates Us to move forward and pursue Our endeavors.

The results of Our actions are not a matter of chance; they are the consequence of a clear strategic vision and a doctrine of governance rooted in initiative-taking, rigorous follow-through, constructive self-criticism, and a genuine determination to approach the future with resolve and positivity.

Today, stability is the key variable in Morocco’s development equation. It is also the strategic capital that fills the nation with pride.

A country with a millennia-old history, Morocco draws its strength from its ancestral traditions of a nation-state where institutions fulfill their roles in harmony and complementarity. This is why achievements continue to unfold with the required efficiency, and the country succeeds in overcoming challenges despite difficulties and constraints.

In this regard, Morocco has demonstrated its effectiveness through the successful organization of major continental and international events. Such mastery has earned it admiration and esteem worldwide, though it has also drawn envy on occasion.

Moreover, Morocco has shown remarkable resilience in the face of disasters and crises, as evidenced by the proactive management of the floods that affected the Gharb and northern regions.

Thanks to the prevailing security and stability, coupled with institutional efficiency, positive indicators are multiplying across all sectors, reinforcing the momentum of economic emergence and further safeguarding national sovereignty.

In fact, the growth rate reached approximately 4.9% in 2025, with expectations of achieving an equivalent or higher rate in 2026.

Regarding agriculture, Morocco has experienced significant rainfall and a strong agricultural season. This favorable situation has strengthened the country’s water and food security.

The automotive, aeronautics, renewable energy, and agri-food industries have become essential pillars of the national productive fabric, both for their ability to attract investments and their capacity to create wealth and jobs.

Today, Morocco has become the leading automotive exporter in Africa, with an annual production capacity of nearly one million vehicles. The automotive and aeronautics sectors now account for over 40% of Morocco’s total exports, surpassing even the phosphate sector.

Supporting this trend, We presided over the launch of new industrial units earlier this year. Thus, We have paved the way for Morocco to join the exclusive circle of countries with major hubs specializing in aircraft engines and landing systems manufacturing.

Driven by the same spirit of innovation and development, large-scale projects are underway to make renewable energies a cornerstone of energy security and a lever for attracting industries seeking competitive and decarbonized energy.

To support this ambitious strategy, the operational implementation of the ‘Green Hydrogen Offer’ has begun with the granting of permits to a first group of megaprojects.

In an international context marked by the resurgence of protectionism and the imperative of securing supply and production chains, We have positioned the strengthening of national sovereignty and strategic self-sufficiency as major axes of industrial development.

This orientation finds its most striking illustration in the agri-food and pharmaceutical industries, which now cover nearly 80% of national needs.

On another front, the establishment of an industrial and technological base for defense and cybersecurity will gradually contribute to consolidating defense sovereignty and generating development opportunities, further reinforcing the country’s status as a regional power in these sectors.

Alongside the promotion of the economic sector, We continue to deploy multiple initiatives and human development programs, particularly through the generalization of social protection. Our ultimate goal is to improve the living conditions of Moroccans and establish social and spatial justice.

In this regard, We emphasize the need for efficient implementation of integrated territorial development programs, ensuring they encompass all regions without exception.

Furthermore, the dynamics of economic and social transformation require mobilizing financial resources of unprecedented scale, the majority of which must come from domestic financing.

That is why We call on the national financial sector to continue supporting investment and major projects and to qualitatively expand access to financing—both banking and non-banking—for small and medium-sized enterprises, innovation, industrialization, and exports.

We also aspire for the financial sector to be more open and innovative to ensure optimal mobilization of national savings, particularly institutional savings, and revitalize financial markets. This will provide a significant boost to the development momentum of emerging Morocco.

In this regard, We remember with deep reverence the memory of the nation’s valiant martyrs, foremost among them Our revered grandfather, the late King Mohammed V, and Our illustrious father, the late King Hassan II, may God have mercy upon them.
