During his appearance, Lansana Gagny Sakho recounted his initial alignment with Pastef‘s political vision, driven by the individuals behind it. However, he revealed that he deliberately declined a ministerial position in the water and sanitation sector after the transition. His reasoning was clear: principles took precedence over political appointments. « I refused to place positions above my convictions. This decision allowed me to leave gracefully. From the start, I chose the Republic, » he stated firmly.

He went on to critique Sonko for allegedly undermining the authority of the State through public statements. Specifically, he referenced a controversial remark made during President Bassirou Diomaye Faye‘s official visits to the United States and China, where Sonko criticized the lack of governance—a statement that, according to Sakho, embarrassed the head of State.

Sakho argued that the minister’s replacement was an attempt to install a more pliable figure to influence the judiciary. « But he underestimated the judiciary—magistrates are not puppets, » he remarked, stressing that governance realities are far more complex than opposition perspectives suggest.
