The Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) have declared a significant shift in momentum, asserting full operational control across regions previously targeted by coordinated offensives. The announcement follows recent clashes in northern and central Mali, where the Front de Libération de l’Azawad (FLA) and the Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) had intensified their attacks.

In a detailed statement, the FAMA confirmed that intensified engagements persisted through Sunday in Anifif, located in the northeastern sector roughly 110 kilometers south of Kidal. Reinforcements, both in personnel and equipment, had reportedly reached the FLA, prompting a robust response from Malian troops. The statement emphasized the resilience and tactical discipline of government forces during the sustained combat operations.

The military leadership underscored unwavering confidence in the FAMA’s ability to secure national sovereignty, safeguard civilian populations, and dismantle hostile factions operating across the country’s vast terrain.

FLA leadership denies key casualty reports

Mohamed Mouloud Ramadan, the FLA’s spokesperson, had earlier asserted that the group maintained operational dominance in Anfif following the resumption of hostilities. In a separate briefing, he categorically refuted claims regarding the death of the group’s leader, Mbarek Ag Akli, insisting that the commander remains actively involved in directing military operations in northern Mali.
