The Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) have declared a decisive shift in momentum, asserting full operational control across multiple conflict zones targeted by the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad (MNLA) in the north and the Support Group for Islam and Muslims (JNIM), an Al-Qaeda affiliate, in central and southern regions.

In a formal statement, FAMA confirmed ongoing clashes on Sunday near Anifif, situated 110 kilometers south of Kidal, following the arrival of additional reinforcements and supplies for the MNLA. The military highlighted the sustained resilience of its units, stating: « These pressures only strengthened our resolve. Our forces engaged throughout the day with unwavering discipline and tactical precision, neutralizing threats while safeguarding civilian areas. »

The communiqué underscored the army’s « absolute confidence in its capacity to uphold national sovereignty, protect communities, and dismantle hostile factions. » Officials emphasized that no territory would be ceded, reaffirming their commitment to restoring stability nationwide.

Meanwhile, the MNLA’s spokesperson, Mohamed Mouloud Ramadan, asserted in a recent interview that the group maintained control over Anfif, dismissing reports of its leader’s alleged death. He confirmed that Mbarek Ag Akli continues to oversee military operations in northern Mali, vowing to intensify resistance against state forces.
