Morocco and Mali inaugurate joint vocational training center in Bamako

In a landmark move to strengthen bilateral relations and empower young talent, Morocco has officially handed over the Complexe Mohammed VI de Formation Professionnelle to the Government of Mali. The state-of-the-art facility, built on 5,200 square meters in the heart of Bamako, is designed to address critical skill gaps in key economic sectors.

The newly inaugurated center, developed by the Fondation Mohammed VI pour le Développement, features 21 specialized training programs spread across two main domains:

• Building and Public Works (BTP): 12 accredited programs in masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical installation, and more.
• Hospitality, Tourism and Catering: 9 programs including hotel management, culinary arts, tourism operations, and restaurant services.

The curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning, blending theoretical instruction with real-world experience through apprenticeships. Upon completion, graduates receive recognized certifications, giving them a direct pathway into Mali’s growing job market.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the initiative as a reflection of King Mohammed VI’s commitment to African youth development. He emphasized that the project embodies the principles of South-South cooperation: solidarity, shared expertise, and sustainable capacity building.

For Mali, the center arrives at a pivotal moment. Oumou Sall Seck, Minister of National Entrepreneurship, Employment and Vocational Training, praised the gesture as a strategic investment in the country’s human capital. She noted that the center responds directly to Mali’s urgent need for skilled professionals in sectors vital to economic growth and social stability.

The infrastructure will accommodate up to 1,000 trainees annually, with enrollment expected to begin in the upcoming academic cycle. Priority will be given to young people from vulnerable backgrounds, ensuring inclusive access to quality vocational education.
