Pierre Emmanuel Binyam: « Maurice Kamto’s party departure was a strategic mission »

The newly appointed head of the Commission for Clarification and Restoration, an initiative spearheaded by Maurice Kamto, recently offered insights during an interview on Stv’s “Entretien avec” program.

Pierre Emmanuel Binyam, a key figure in Maurice Kamto’s political apparatus, recently offered a crucial clarification regarding Kamto’s temporary disengagement from his party.

Binyam delved into the circumstances surrounding Maurice Kamto’s move to join Manidem and his subsequent endorsement as a candidate for the 2026 presidential elections. This presidential bid, however, ultimately faced rejection.

“President Maurice Kamto’s departure from the party was not a resignation in the sense of abandoning our movement,” Pierre Emmanuel Binyam asserted. “Rather, we entrusted him with a specific mission. Now, following the developments, he has returned, and we have requested that he complete his mandate.”

Binyam, a prominent member of the Mouvement pour la renaissance du Cameroun (MRC), confirmed that the disqualification of Maurice Kamto from the presidential race represented a significant setback for the party’s members.

“The rejection of Maurice Kamto’s candidacy deeply impacted us. We were profoundly affected by our candidate’s elimination from this election, especially considering that all available polls, both domestically and internationally, had indicated he was poised for a decisive victory,” Pierre Emmanuel Binyam further explained.
