The Moroccan government has reportedly instructed its embassies and consulates globally to suspend the issuance of visa confirmation letters for Taiwanese passport holders. This sudden policy shift has significantly disrupted bilateral travel and exchange programs between the two nations.

In response, Taiwanese authorities announced an immediate suspension of visa issuance for Moroccan nationals, effective immediately. Exceptions may apply for individuals holding special permits, though the exact criteria remain under review. The Taiwanese foreign ministry has called on Moroccan officials to reinstate practical travel arrangements and is closely monitoring the situation before considering further adjustments to its own visa policies.

The absence of formal diplomatic relations between Morocco and Taiwan stems from Morocco’s adherence to the ‘One China’ principle, which recognizes the People’s Republic of China as the sole legitimate government.
