Tchad honors new generation of military school graduates
N’Djamena — Under a sky rich in meaning, the Inter-Service Military Schools Grouping (GEMIA) hosted a memorable event today, blending the induction of the sixth intake of Military School Children with an awards ceremony recognizing top performers. The gathering drew the participation of Chad’s highest-ranking military and civilian leaders, including General of Division Hisseine Abderamane Haggar and the Second Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Yangmmargue Beh Félix.
The ceremony unfolded before an assembly of generals, officers, defense attachés from allied nations, the Mayor of N’Djamena, the Sultan of the city’s first arrondissement, parents of students, and alumni of the program. The GEMIA commandant highlighted the resilience and remarkable transformation of the latest cohort of 76 students, who began their journey on October 6, 2025.
These students underwent a rigorous initiation phase, far removed from the comforts of home, to cultivate bonds of brotherhood, camaraderie, and solidarity. « Today, they shed the label of ‘newcomers’ to fully embrace their identity as Military School Children, » declared the general with conviction.
In his address, he underscored the vision of President Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces: « Chad’s future is forged within its schools. » This guiding principle resonates deeply within the Military School Children program, encapsulated in its motto: « Learn to Build Better, » anchored in values of honor, discipline, and excellence.
The event also served as a platform to honor academic and extracurricular achievements, including the top student of the year, most exemplary learners, class leaders, and standout athletes. The commandant commended the awardees, urging them to continue their upward trajectory.
In closing, the GEMIA commandant extended a call to action, appealing to partners and the Association of Former Military School Children to elevate the institution into a benchmark for education. He wished all personnel and students a refreshing break, while expressing gratitude to parents for their pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future leaders.
