Bénin unveils 2026-2033 action plan for transformative governance

The Government Action Plan (PAG) for the 2026-2033 seven-year term is nearing completion, with an official unveiling scheduled for the political reopening in September. This strategic roadmap aims to build on ongoing reforms while introducing fresh priorities across social, economic, and security sectors.

Core priorities shaping the PAG 2026-2033

The newly drafted plan centers on three key pillars: eliminating extreme poverty, reducing territorial disparities, and strengthening national security. To ensure effective implementation, the government’s operational framework is being restructured to enhance public policy efficiency.

This includes monthly cabinet meetings, bi-monthly inter-ministerial committees, and thematic cabinet sessions for close monitoring of progress.

Citizen engagement and regional consultations

Aligning with the Open Government Partnership, the finalization of the PAG will involve nationwide consultations across all twelve departments of Benin. These engagements aim to gather grassroots insights, ensuring state investments align with regional realities and address local needs.
