Former Ivorian President and PPA-CI leader Laurent Gbagbo recently announced a significant restructuring of his party’s leadership. In an official statement, he revealed the appointment of five new key figures to share responsibilities in the party’s strategic and political direction.

New leadership roles unveiled

The appointments include four vice-presidents and one Chair of the Strategic and Political Council (CSP), each assigned specific mandates to strengthen the party’s operations:

• Assoa Adou, First Vice-President in charge of party ideology, will oversee compliance with the party’s statutes and internal regulations while ensuring alignment with its core principles.
• Oulaye Hubert, Second Vice-President responsible for party affairs, will lead Central Committee sessions as delegated by the party’s statutes and internal guidelines.
• Ackan Emmanuel, Third Vice-President tasked with party mobilization, will energize political activities and enhance the party’s visibility while maintaining institutional relations in line with established guidelines.
• Justin Koné Katinan, Fourth Vice-President overseeing general policy, will coordinate and monitor policy implementation while developing government program frameworks.
• Sébastien Dano Djedje has been appointed Chair of the CSP, responsible for overall party leadership and strategic supervision.

A shift toward collective leadership

In explaining these changes, Gbagbo emphasized the move toward a more collaborative leadership model. “The strength of our party lies not in a single individual but in the unity and collective efforts of our leaders and members working toward a shared vision,” he stated.

Rationale behind the restructuring

This leadership reshuffle follows Gbagbo’s earlier announcement in May during the PPA-CI Renaissance Day celebrations in Songon M’Bratté. The initiative aims to enhance the party’s operational efficiency, strengthen its decision-making processes, and amplify its political influence across Ivory Coast.
