Laurent Gbagbo, former President of Côte d’Ivoire and current leader of the Parti des Peuples Africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI), has announced a strategic move to delegate key presidential responsibilities to five senior party officials. This decision marks a significant shift toward shared leadership within the party.

The announcement, detailed in an official PPA-CI communiqué, underscores the party’s commitment to collective governance. According to the statement, M. Assoa Adou has been appointed First Vice-President, tasked with overseeing party statutes and internal regulations, ensuring strict adherence across all organs and members. M. Hubert Oulaye, meanwhile, will serve as Second Vice-President, responsible for party administration and presiding over Central Committee meetings.

Further strengthening the leadership structure, M. Dano Djédjé Sébastien has been named Chair of the Strategic and Political Council, with broad authority over the party’s general direction and operational oversight.

In a statement, Laurent Gbagbo emphasized the rationale behind this restructuring: “This delegation reflects our commitment to fostering a more collaborative leadership model, where responsibilities are clearly defined and collective action drives our progress.”

He added, “A strong party is built not on the strength of one individual alone, but on the unity, discipline, and synergy of its leaders and members working toward a shared vision.” Gbagbo stressed that only through cohesive teamwork can the party overcome challenges and fulfill its mission to serve the Ivorian people effectively.
