Following several hours of sweep operations, the Nigerien military confirmed the final assessment of the situation late that evening.

The JNIM (Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims), a group affiliated with Al-Qaeda, has claimed responsibility for the raid. However, the Niger Defense and Security Forces successfully neutralized the threat after over two hours of fierce fighting. In the aftermath of the assault, Nigerien authorities have also officially accused France of involvement in the incident.
