In a decisive move toward modernizing technical and vocational education, the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Professional Training hosted a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena on July 10, 2026. The event centered on validating a comprehensive field analysis report, serving as the foundation for Chad’s upcoming National Strategy for Digital Transformation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Key stakeholders from across the sector convened to review, refine, and endorse the document, ensuring it reflects the nation’s educational and technological priorities.

The initiative aligns with the Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation in TVET, supported by prominent bodies such as UNESCO, the African Union, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the GIZ-SIFA program. Its goal is to embed sustainable digital modernization within Chad’s technical and vocational training systems. The preparatory study engaged over 200 participants from 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (TVTCs) and supervisory bodies, utilizing both on-site assessments and digital surveys across all regional academies in Chad.

Critical gaps and opportunities emerged from the analysis, revealing both significant progress and persistent challenges. Governance inefficiencies, underdeveloped digital infrastructure, unreliable connectivity, energy shortages, and the need for enhanced trainer expertise topped the list of hurdles. Additionally, the report highlighted the urgency of integrating digital competencies into curricula to align with evolving job market demands. Participants were urged to collaborate in refining the document, ensuring the final strategy is pragmatic, inclusive, and tailored to Chad’s unique socio-economic landscape.

Following the workshop’s conclusion, the validated report will underpin the development of Chad’s National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET and its operational action plan for 2026–2030. The long-term vision is to establish a modern, high-performing technical training system capable of equipping Chad’s workforce with the skills demanded by today’s—and tomorrow’s—job market.
