The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Professional Training recently convened a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena to validate a groundbreaking assessment report ahead of drafting the National Digital Transformation Strategy for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

This initiative, aligned with a broader Pan-African movement to modernize TVET systems, brings together key stakeholders to refine and approve a critical document that will shape Chad’s future approach to digitalizing vocational training. More than 200 participants from 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (CFTP) and supporting institutions contributed to the study through extensive field missions and digital data collection spanning all national academies.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, who represented the Secretary of State for Higher Education. He emphasized that digital transformation is no longer optional but a strategic imperative to align training systems with technological advancements and evolving job markets. The Government aims to harness digital tools as a cornerstone for modernizing TVET in Chad.

Dr. Gabriel highlighted both progress and persistent challenges outlined in the report, including governance gaps, inadequate digital infrastructure, connectivity issues, energy supply constraints, trainer capacity, and the integration of digital skills into curricula. He urged stakeholders to collaboratively enhance the document to ensure the resulting strategy is practical, inclusive, and reflective of Chad’s unique context.

Once finalized, the validated report will serve as the foundation for Chad’s National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET, including a five-year action plan for 2026–2030. The goal is to equip Chad with a modern, high-performing vocational training system capable of meeting the demands of today’s job market.
