Ivory coast secures record-breaking funding for ambitious 2026-2030 development plan
Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara has hailed the historic financial mobilization achieved during this week’s high-profile investment forum, calling it a resounding vote of confidence in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic resilience and forward-looking growth strategy.
The statement came at the close of the two-day National Development Plan (PND) 2026–2030 Consultative Group meeting held in Abidjan on July 8–9, 2026, which drew over 2,000 delegates from 49 nations. Attendees included top-tier representatives from financial institutions, investment funds, commercial banks, business federations, state-owned and private enterprises, as well as leading development partners.
By the end of the intensive deliberations, pledges totaled 80 billion US dollars—equivalent to 47,820 billion West African francs (F CFA)—far surpassing the original funding target of 11,138.2 billion F CFA.
Ambitious blueprint for national transformation
The PND 2026–2030 outlines a sweeping five-year vision: “Building a Great Nation that is stable, ambitious, and inclusive.” With a projected total investment envelope of 114,838.5 billion F CFA—roughly 209 billion US dollars—70.2 % of financing is expected to come from the private sector, positioning it as the engine of Côte d’Ivoire’s economic and social metamorphosis.
Domestic enterprises will play a pivotal role in executing the plan, which is structured around six strategic pillars: peace, security, and stability; agriculture and agro-industry; private-sector expansion and industrialization; human capital development; critical infrastructure; and enhanced governance alongside state modernization.
Macroeconomic milestones on the horizon
To fulfill these ambitions, the nation must rally behind bold macroeconomic targets: elevating Côte d’Ivoire to the status of an upper-middle-income economy by 2030, lifting per-capita GDP to 4,500 US dollars, and slashing poverty rates to below 20 %.
President Ouattara emphasized the government’s duty to channel this unprecedented influx of capital into tangible dividends for every citizen—more classrooms, better hospitals, expanded road networks, quality jobs, fresh opportunities, and shared prosperity.
“Together, with unwavering confidence, resolve, and unity, we will continue forging a Côte d’Ivoire that is ever more prosperous and cohesive,” he affirmed.
