N’Djamena – World Vision Chad has unveiled its ambitious 2026-2030 national strategy, marking a transformative step toward improving the lives of 3.29 million children across the country. The launch, held during a high-profile press conference, brought together media representatives, technical and financial partners, and national authorities at the N’Djamena Résidence Hotel. This initiative underscores the organization’s commitment to addressing the most pressing challenges facing Chad’s youngest and most vulnerable populations through a multi-faceted approach.

Building resilience through integrated action

The strategy, described as both bold and innovative, is built on the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus framework. This approach bridges emergency response with sustainable development and peacebuilding efforts, ensuring that interventions are not only immediate but also durable. Carla Dominique Denizard, Regional Director for West Africa, highlighted the urgency of this approach, stating, “Every child in Chad deserves not just to survive, but to thrive. Achieving this requires strong partnerships, deep community engagement, and a deep respect for cultural and spiritual values.”

Denizard emphasized that West and Central Africa continue to face severe challenges, including persistent insecurity, multidimensional poverty, the far-reaching impacts of climate change, and large-scale population displacements. She noted that these issues collectively threaten the well-being and future of millions of children, making an integrated strategy essential for sustainable progress.

A roadmap aligned with global and continental goals

World Vision Chad’s strategy is designed to align with key continental and international frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16. The plan prioritizes critical areas such as human capital development, social protection, climate resilience, literacy through the Unlock Literacy program, and comprehensive child protection measures.

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Chad, described the strategy’s launch as a “historic moment” for both the organization and the future of Chadian children. He noted that this plan represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, with a clear goal: to reach 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million from the most vulnerable groups. “Our mission is simple yet profound,” he stated. “We want every child in Chad not only to survive but to flourish in a safe, nurturing, and opportunity-rich environment.”

Ngoy Wangoy also underscored the severity of the challenges Chad faces, citing persistent poverty, widespread malnutrition, recurrent humanitarian crises, and the escalating effects of climate change. Citing data from World Vision, he pointed out that nearly 42% of Chad’s population lives below the poverty line, a stark reminder of the urgent need for targeted interventions.

Priorities for a brighter future

The 2026-2030 strategy outlines several key priorities:

• Integrated nutrition and health programs: Focused on maternal and child health, these initiatives aim to reduce malnutrition and improve overall well-being.
• Education and literacy: Through the Unlock Literacy program, the strategy seeks to build foundational reading skills in early childhood, setting the stage for lifelong learning.
• Child protection: A comprehensive effort to shield children from violence, exploitation, and abuse in all forms.
• Climate resilience: Strengthening communities’ ability to adapt to and mitigate the impacts of climate change, ensuring long-term sustainability.

Following the strategy’s unveiling, World Vision Chad’s leadership called for a collective mobilization of all national stakeholders. They urged public authorities, technical and financial partners, civil society organizations, religious and community leaders, and the media to collaborate closely. “Transforming today’s challenges into sustainable opportunities for Chadian children requires the combined efforts of every sector,” they emphasized. “Together, we can build a future where every child is protected, nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.”
