World Vision Tchad has rolled out its ambitious 2026-2030 national strategy, marking a significant step toward transforming the lives of 3.29 million children across the country. Unveiled during a high-profile press conference in N’Djamena, the initiative brings together government officials, media representatives, technical partners, and financial backers to align on a unified vision for the nation’s youth.

The strategy’s core objective is to uplift 3.09 million of the most vulnerable children, focusing on critical areas such as healthcare, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience. At the launch event, held at a major N’Djamena hotel, regional leaders emphasized the need for integrated solutions to address Chad’s deep-rooted challenges.

Carla Dominique Denizard, World Vision’s Regional Director for West Africa based in Dakar, described the strategy as both bold and innovative. She highlighted its foundation in the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus, a groundbreaking approach that bridges emergency aid with sustainable development and peacebuilding efforts. « Children in Chad deserve more than survival—they deserve to thrive, » she stated, underscoring the importance of community engagement, cultural integration, and strategic partnerships in achieving long-term impact.

The strategy aligns with key continental and global frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s own Vision 2030. Priority areas include strengthening human capital, expanding social protection, enhancing climate adaptation, improving literacy through the Unlock Literacy program, and safeguarding children from violence and exploitation.

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, Country Director of World Vision Tchad, called the launch a « historic milestone » for the organization and the children of Chad. He revealed that the new strategy represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, with a clear mission: to ensure every child in Chad not only survives but flourishes. « Our goal is simple yet profound—reach 3.29 million children by 2030, with a special focus on those most at risk, » he declared.

Chad faces persistent challenges, including widespread poverty, malnutrition, recurrent humanitarian crises, and the worsening effects of climate change. Current data shows that nearly 42% of the population lives below the poverty line, intensifying the urgency of targeted interventions. The 2026-2030 strategy addresses these issues through a multi-pronged approach:

• Nutrition and Health: Integrated programs targeting maternal and child health to combat malnutrition and reduce preventable diseases.
• Education: Expansion of the Unlock Literacy initiative to build foundational reading skills in early learners.
• Child Protection: Comprehensive measures to shield children from abuse, exploitation, and harmful practices.
• Climate Resilience: Community-based adaptation strategies to mitigate the impact of environmental degradation and extreme weather.

Following the strategy’s unveiling, World Vision Tchad issued a rallying call to all national stakeholders. The organization urged government agencies, development partners, civil society groups, religious and community leaders, and the media to collaborate closely. « Collective action is the only way to turn today’s challenges into tomorrow’s opportunities, » the leadership emphasized.
