N’Djamena, Chad – World Vision Chad has unveiled its ambitious 2026-2030 national strategy, marking a significant step forward in the organization’s commitment to transforming the lives of millions of children across the country. The initiative was announced during a high-level press conference in N’Djamena, bringing together government officials, development partners, and key stakeholders to outline a roadmap for sustainable progress.

The strategy sets a bold target: improving the lives of 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million of the most vulnerable. This ambitious plan integrates humanitarian aid, long-term development, and peacebuilding efforts into a cohesive framework designed to address Chad’s most pressing challenges. From health and nutrition to education and climate resilience, the approach aims to create lasting impact in communities grappling with persistent poverty and environmental pressures.

Speaking at the launch, Carla Dominique Denizard, Regional Director for World Vision West Africa, emphasized the transformative potential of the strategy. Describing it as “bold and forward-thinking”, she highlighted its foundation in the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus, a model that bridges emergency response with sustainable development and conflict prevention. “Every child in Chad deserves not just to survive, but to thrive,” she stated, underscoring the importance of cultural sensitivity, community engagement, and multi-sector collaboration in achieving this vision.

The strategy aligns with continental and global priorities, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s Vision 2030. Key focus areas include strengthening human capital, expanding social protection, adapting to climate change, and enhancing early childhood education through the Unlock Literacy program. The goal is to ensure that children are not only protected but also empowered to reach their full potential.

He noted that the new plan represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, reflecting a deeper commitment to addressing Chad’s deep-seated challenges. With nearly 42% of Chad’s population living below the poverty line, the need for targeted interventions has never been more urgent.

Wangoy outlined the strategy’s four core pillars: nutrition and integrated health services, with a focus on maternal and child health; education reform, particularly through early literacy initiatives; child protection, including measures to combat violence and exploitation; and climate resilience, equipping communities to withstand environmental shocks.
