Spiritual Leader Welcomes National Assembly President Ahead of Touba Pilgrimage

In a gesture of deep respect, the President of Senegal’s National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, paid a formal courtesy visit to the spiritual leader of the Mouride Brotherhood, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké, on Thursday, July 30.

The visit underscored the significance of this annual religious gathering, which honors the exile of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, the revered founder of the Mouride order. During the meeting, Sonko conveyed his highest regards to the Khalife général, while emphasizing the spiritual and historical importance of the Magal.
